14 September 2026 Evening: Late advance spreads beyond XRP as Bitcoin tops $79,000
Bitcoin passes $79,000 as Ether and Solana regain morning ground, turning XRP’s selective afternoon advance into a broader evening crypto recovery.
Bitcoin has joined the advance that XRP was leading this afternoon, lifting the evening market beyond Monday morning’s recovered levels. Ether has rebuilt its margin above $2,500 and Solana has moved above $103. The change is broader participation among the four large coins followed here, after an afternoon when three were slipping despite positive daily returns.
The wider crypto valuation has risen alongside the late improvement in prices. At around 20:38 BST on Monday, 14 September, CoinGecko’s global snapshot puts market capitalisation, the estimated value of circulating cryptocurrencies, at approximately $2.71 trillion, or £2.00 trillion. That compares with roughly $2.66 trillion this afternoon. Bitcoin dominance, its share of that total, is around 58.5%, close to the earlier 58.4%.
Reported trading turnover is approximately $84.5 billion over 24 hours, about 58% above the preceding comparison period. Turnover measures trading activity, including repeated transactions, rather than fresh money arriving. The higher figure adds evidence of increased activity, but does not identify who traded or explain their reasons.
Alternative.me’s Fear and Greed Index, a daily sentiment measure using inputs including volatility and momentum, remains at 57 in the provider’s Greed category. It has not refreshed since the earlier reports. Yesterday’s reading was 61, so measured sentiment remains cooler despite higher prices. The evening advance therefore sits alongside the same sentiment observation, which is a snapshot rather than a prediction.
| Timeframe | Regime | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 1 hour | Neutral | Price up about 0.40% over this period. |
| 4 hours | Bullish | Price up about 0.80% over this period. |
| Daily | Bullish | Price up about 2.47% over this period. |
| Weekly | Neutral | Price up about 0.00% over this period. |
| Monthly | Bullish | Price up about 25.70% over this period. |

The table labels Bitcoin moves smaller than 0.5% either way Neutral, larger gains Bullish and equivalent falls Bearish. Weekly and monthly refer to seven and 30 days. These are descriptions of observed price changes, not signals to buy or sell; the four hour comparison uses the nearest available chart samples.
Bitcoin is near $79,100, up approximately 2.5% over 24 hours and about 1.9% since the afternoon observation. The underlying quote of $79,122 compares with $77,644 in our afternoon report on XRP’s selective advance. Bitcoin has now moved beyond the morning’s $77,739 as well, reversing the small retreat that shaped the earlier session.
This changes the day’s interpretation. At lunchtime, Bitcoin was retaining most of its overnight recovery without adding to it. The evening observation shows an extension beyond that recovered ground. It is stronger evidence of progress through Monday than a positive daily percentage on its own, because the comparison starts at a known point within today’s trading.
Crypto trades continuously, so this is an evening handover rather than an official closing price. A later quote can change the picture. For now, Bitcoin’s contribution is clear: the largest cryptocurrency is participating in the advance, instead of merely holding steady while XRP moves ahead.
Ether is around $2,542, up approximately 1.6% over 24 hours and by a similar amount since this afternoon. Ether, the coin used on Ethereum, was near $2,502 earlier. Its margin above $2,500 has widened from a couple of dollars to roughly $42, and it is also above the morning’s $2,522.
Those two comparisons matter separately. Staying above a round number only preserved a narrow part of the recovery. Regaining the morning observation repairs the subsequent retreat as well. Ether has now done both at this snapshot, although neither level guarantees protection against another decline. The useful conclusion is that its recovery has become more complete.
Solana is near $103.20, up approximately 2.3% over 24 hours and 2.0% since the afternoon. The earlier quote was $101.17, below the morning’s $101.64. Solana has now passed both references, adding another large coin to the evening improvement rather than leaving the advance concentrated in one asset.
Its movement supports the central story because it follows the same intraday reversal as Bitcoin and Ether. That does not establish a shared cause. Prices can move together without the available evidence identifying the orders, news or changing expectations behind them. Solana’s role here is confirmation that the improvement extends beyond Bitcoin.
XRP remains the strongest daily performer of these four, near $1.46 and up approximately 7.8%. It is also above the afternoon’s rounded $1.39. Quotes rounded to cents do not justify a finely measured intraday return, but the direction is unambiguous. The current coin prices and daily changes come from CoinGecko’s market snapshot.
XRP’s leadership has continued while the other three have caught up in direction. That is different from this afternoon’s divergence. It still does not establish a token specific announcement as the cause, and this small group cannot represent every cryptocurrency. The stronger claim supported by the figures is that all four have advanced since the earlier report.
The evening’s useful distinction is between the size of a gain and how widely it is shared. XRP supplies the largest daily percentage, but Bitcoin, Ether and Solana supply the change in participation. A market description based solely on the biggest mover would miss that shift from selective strength to a more widely shared advance within this group.
This morning’s account of the recovery beyond Sunday’s prices provides the starting point. Three coins then surrendered ground before regaining it this evening. Following that sequence gives a clearer account of Monday than assuming that a green daily percentage means uninterrupted gains. The broader valuation and turnover add context, without proving a lasting change in demand.
What to watch into Tuesday’s Asian session is whether these recovered morning levels remain intact. For Bitcoin, compare subsequent quotes with $79,100 and then the morning’s $77,739. For Ether, distinguish retaining $2,542 from slipping back towards $2,522 or $2,500. These are observed reference points, not price targets or promised floors.
For Solana, $103.20 marks the latest observation, with $101.64 the morning comparison. For XRP, compare the next quote with $1.46 while checking whether the other three keep participating. A continued advance across this group would preserve the evening’s broader pattern; renewed divergence would narrow it. The practical task is to follow that relationship, rather than treat one large daily gain as the whole market.
