13 September 2026 Evening: Crypto regains ground before the Asia handover

Ether regains $2,500 and Solana returns above $100 as Bitcoin recovers most of its Sunday setback, leaving a partial recovery before Monday trading.

Sunday’s crypto losses have narrowed as the UK evening gives way to Monday trading in Asia. Ether has regained $2,500 and Solana is back above $100, reversing the afternoon’s crossings below those levels. Bitcoin has recovered most of its observed morning setback. The improvement is measurable, but it has not restored the whole morning picture.

The evening recovery extends beyond Bitcoin, with the wider market valuation also above its afternoon observation. At around 20:37 BST on 13 September, CoinGecko’s global snapshot puts market capitalisation, the estimated value of circulating cryptocurrencies, at approximately $2.63 trillion, or £1.95 trillion. That compares with the rounded $2.61 trillion reported this afternoon and $2.64 trillion this morning. Bitcoin dominance, its share of that total valuation, is about 58.8%.

Alternative.me’s Fear and Greed Index, a daily measure of Bitcoin sentiment using inputs including volatility and momentum, remains at 61 in the provider’s Greed category. It has not changed during today’s decline and subsequent recovery. The score describes sentiment on its own update schedule; it cannot tell us whether the latest rebound will continue.

The table describes CoinGecko’s observed Bitcoin price changes. Moves smaller than 0.5% either way are labelled Neutral, larger gains Bullish and equivalent falls Bearish. Weekly and monthly mean rolling seven and 30 day periods. The four hour comparison uses the nearest available chart observations. These labels summarise past movement rather than providing trading signals.

Bitcoin is around $77,200, up approximately 0.2% over 24 hours and about 0.7% from the afternoon reference. The underlying quote of $77,217 compares with the rounded $76,700 in Sunday afternoon’s account of the crypto reversal. It is now close to, although still below, this morning’s $77,300. That is a recovery of most of the observed intraday decline.

Bitcoin’s modest daily gain therefore tells only part of the story. The fixed afternoon comparison shows a more noticeable improvement, because it starts after the earlier fall. Neither figure is wrong: they measure different stretches of trading. For a returning reader, the afternoon reference is the clearest way to see what has changed since the previous report.

The weekly decline alongside a positive monthly comparison provides another reminder to keep the starting point visible. An evening rebound does not erase a weaker week. Equally, that weaker week does not mean every hour has been falling. Bitcoin’s contribution tonight is a substantial repair of Sunday’s observed setback, with the morning reference still providing a straightforward test of completeness.

Ether is near $2,504, down around 0.6% over 24 hours but roughly 1.1% above its afternoon price. Ether, the coin used on Ethereum, was around $2,476 in the previous report. Its return above $2,500 reverses one of that report’s most visible changes, while leaving it below the morning’s $2,522.

Crossing a round number is easy to follow, but the number itself does not explain the recovery. The more useful observation is how much of the earlier loss has been repaired. Ether has recovered a little over half the gap between the rounded morning and afternoon prices. Describing that as a complete Sunday recovery would still be premature.

Its negative daily percentage can coexist with a positive evening direction because the daily comparison begins much earlier. There is no verified Ethereum announcement in the evidence used here that establishes why this particular recovery occurred. The supported conclusion is narrower: Ether has regained ground alongside other major coins, without yet regaining its morning valuation.

Solana is around $100.93, down approximately 0.5% over 24 hours and about 1.3% above the afternoon’s $99.65. It has moved back above $100 after slipping below that reference earlier. Compared with the morning’s $101.75, however, some of Sunday’s loss remains.

Solana has recovered a larger percentage from the afternoon than Bitcoin, but that follows a larger earlier decline. A faster rebound does not automatically mean a stronger full day. Our Sunday morning report on the modest recovery supplies the remaining comparison: getting back to $101.75 would restore that observation, rather than establish a new advance beyond it.

XRP is near $1.35, down around 0.6% over 24 hours, with its quoted price above the afternoon’s $1.34. It remains below the morning’s $1.37. Quotes rounded to cents are too coarse for a reliable small intraday percentage, so the useful reading is directional. XRP joins the recovery from the afternoon without overturning the broader pattern of incomplete repair. These four coin figures come from CoinGecko’s market snapshot.

The theme for the handover to Asia is the difference between recovering a level and recovering the day. Ether and Solana have regained memorable round numbers, while their morning references remain higher. The global valuation has also improved since the afternoon without returning to the morning estimate. Taken together, those observations support a partial recovery across the measured market.

UK regulatory coverage belongs on a separate timeline. The Financial Conduct Authority’s published timetable gives firms an application period from 30 September 2026 to 28 February 2027, ahead of the new regime starting on 25 October 2027. That existing timetable was covered this afternoon. It is useful background, but it does not establish a fresh catalyst for tonight’s price changes.

What to watch as Monday trading develops in Asia is whether the remaining morning gaps close. Bitcoin’s $77,300 reference is nearby. Ether’s $2,522 and Solana’s $101.75 distinguish a fuller recovery from simply holding above $2,500 and $100. A renewed move below those round numbers would remove part of tonight’s improvement.

Finally, compare the next global valuation with tonight’s $2.63 trillion and the morning’s $2.64 trillion. Improvement across that wider measure would add evidence beyond one rising coin. Crypto trades continuously, so this evening summary is a dated observation rather than an exchange closing price. The practical takeaway is to follow the amount of lost ground actually recovered, while keeping the unchanged sentiment label separate from the moving prices.
